Melting in seattle

I'm melting here in Seattle. It feels so much worse than Singapore! Yesterday when i walk to school i think i nearly had heat stroke!

I was suppose to meet my proj mates last weekend to tour a brewery for our project. But it totally slipped my mind!!!!!! i kept thinking that it was this coming sunday instead. I still keep reminding bong tt he has to fetch me there. OMG!!!!!!! i feel so bad! i so wanna cry now!!!!!

Ni's throw face incident...

Ni went shopping on sunday. Disney store was on sale. So Bong and Ni bought a t-shirt each. 2 for $20. While queuing to pay, a little girl and a mom was in front of the queue.

Male cashier asked little girl. "Do you want the princess bag or the buzz light bag?"

Little girl said she wants the princess bag.

Ni thinking... "I hope he give me the princess bag also..."

When it's Ni's turn, the male cashier gave the buzz light bag.

Ni 'shyly" hide behind big bong and said (in the typical Ni whiny tone) " Can i have the princess bag instead?"

At the same time, the cashier asked "Do you want the princess bag?"

And he laughed. He said he saw my expression and knew.

OMG! a 25 yr old asking for the princess bag in a Disney Store! 

One more report to go...

I just finish my Business Law Finals... Zzzzzzz. 100 questions of MCQ. Total for whole course must get 95% for A, 90% for A-, and so on... and dunno if i get C- or what need to retake. And it cost >US$2,000! OMG! Pray hard! 

And I got one more report to write for IT Management. The course that i do very well for quizzes, but report 35%! Got a feeling this report cannot make it.. coz we didnt spent much time on it. Making issues out of nothing. Haiz.... and worse... i got one of the impt part.... and i'm too tired to think now!!!!!

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

Haa.. i just took the MBTI test for one of my course. I'm ISFP (Introversion, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving). i remember i took it b4 in JC. LPs, do u all remember? think is in one of our leadership camp. 

I cant remember what type i was in JC, but i think i was an "intuition" person then rather than the present "Sensing". 

Sensing - tend to focus on the present and on concrete information gained from their senses.

Intuition - tend to focus on the future, with a view toward patterns and possibilities. 

OMG! does it mean tt i no longer look into my future?? i got no more goals in life???? hmm.. and wat's worse is... it seems kinda true! 

Another thing is i seem to be more introvert now. haiz.... tt's not too good too....

IT management presentation

I just finish coming out with my part for my IT Management presentation. I spent like 2+ days just to do research. so irritated. IT is really not my stuff. When i found something, i have to keep googling on the IT jagons in the readings. haa.. it's like how i use dictionary when i'm in primary school. But this time worse. Cause the more i search, the more confuse i get. haa.. 

I hate IT.

Busy Busy..

Hi PP! sorry for not blogging for sometimes. was kinda busy and lazy...

haa.. went Portland shopping during the Xmas and New Year Hols.. and was kinda nua after i came back... now that school has started.. it's real crazy for me. I finally understand again how come students can be busy too! there's the never ending readings and HW and projs and quizzes. haiz...

Anyway.. wanna show u pp some emails from my school about things tt happen near the school recently. It's kinda scary. US is really a crazy place. There's always shooting or killing on news everyday. after seeing all tt.. chills will run down my spine whenever i hear the ambulance siren now. and as the hospital is near my house, the damn ambulance will drive pass every now and then.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4, Campus Public Safety monitored Seattle Police Department’s response to a fight disturbance and shooting that occurred two blocks east of campus at a nightclub called Chop Suey’s. Officers responded to the scene in the 1300 block of E. Madison St. after receiving 911 calls about a fight and shots being fired at the club. Police officers found three males in their 20s injured; all three were rushed to local hospitals, where one later died. A second victim is being treated for life threatening injuries and the third victim was reported treated and released. Police reported witnesses described a dispute arose during a performance and shots were fired. It was reported unknown if the victims were targeted. Police took two males into custody and one was interviewed and released, and the second was booked for investigation of assault. An additional suspect is reported at large.  

Personal safety awareness tips:

·         Be alert to your surroundings, any signs of a disturbance and nearby individuals at all times.

·         Keep your head up, eyes open and be confidently looking around yourself at all times.

·         If any concerns for your safety arise, leave the area immediately.

·         Walk on well-lit arterials where other pedestrians are present and/or businesses are open.

·         Utilize the Campus Public Safety escort system by calling 296-5990.

·         If you sense danger or have a concern on campus, notify CPS at extension 5911, or by cellphone at 296-5911.

Seattle Police and FBI are investigating threatening letters recently sent by mail to a number of bars in the Capitol Hill area. Yesterday, police seized the letters, one of which reads: “I have in my possession approximately 67 grams of ricin with which I will indiscriminately target at least five of your clients.” The letter implies that the attacks will take place one Saturday this month and lists the following bars as targets: The Elite, Neighbors, The Wildrose Bar, The Cuff, Purr, The Seattle Eagle, R Place, Re-bar, C.C.Attle’s, Madison Pub and The Crescent. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says ricin is a poison found naturally in castor beans that can be deadly if purified and then ingested or inhaled.

Seattle Police are actively investigating the threat and coordinating their efforts with the FBI and other federal partners. The bars have been informing customers of the threat and warning them to make sure they don’t leave their drinks unattended. Campus Public Safety encourages the community to be alert for suspicious activity and/or packages and to report that activity to 911 immediately.

Snow storm in seattle

Initially i was very excited about Winter and snow.. like the pictures u all saw in the previous post.. very pretty right?

but there was snow storm in seattle last weekend.. i.e. a week after the pictures u all saw... snow was so heavy over the weekend.. imagine if the heavy rain in singapore become snow and the rain water r not drained away but accumulates on the floor... it's a very terrible feeling to walk under a condition like that.

Cause while it's still snowing.. it became very difficult to walk. it's like hiking in snow. i gotta pull my legs out of the snow for every steps i take. then after the snow stops and it harden due to too many pp stepping on then or due to melting, the floor becomes very slippery.. like walking on ice.. and i just fell on monday the minute i left the apt. sprain my wrist some more. =(

and it's very very cold! esp when the wind is blowing. have to wear beanie/hat, thick coats, gloves, scarves and boots. it looks very cool on TV, but when i became the one wearing it.. it's damn troublesome! Not only do i have to do stocktake before i leave the house to make sure i didnt leave anything out, there's still the taking off of the jackets when i enter a restaurant and the removing of gloves when i wan to take things out of my bag. one word. TROUBLESOME!

and you know. the floor is so slippery that we dare not drive. many buses stop servicing also. so we have to end up walking to our destinations. Got once, we ended up walking 1-2 hrs just for a meal (it's normally a 5 min drive). Dunno is it all the walking or the cold.. my kneecaps became very very pain today. Like muscle ache after a strenuous exercise, but this time it's my knee cap that hurts instead of the leg muscles. in the end Bong's fren told us to get a heat pack to stick on my knees. my knees felt a bit better after that but still hurts alot. and i walk like a penguin cause i try to walk w my legs straight. it almost killed me to walk down stairs.

now i really dun like winter anymore and can understand y the ang mos fly to asia during winter. cause if they stay in their country, the best is to just stay home and hibernate.

haha... too much complaining from me.. but anyway... MERRY CHRISTMAS to all! miss u pp!

14th Dec 08 Sunday (Seattle Time)

The first time i saw snow.. not snowing.. but can still see snow on the floor. Like very fine ice-kacang..

Upset..

I just went to the bank (BOA) to collect my debit card which they make me go down to collect personally.. this already make me very puzzled.

1. Bong got his mailed to him

2. Bong got a folder of banking guides but i didnt.. (not that i wan.. but still.) 

What really really upset me was when I try to deposit some cash using the machine just now.. (like our singapore cash deposit machine? just that theirs is together with the ATM.)

ok.. i dunno if i'm stupid or what.. (in the eye of  the Americans.. i'm definitely ridiculous) I didnt know that the machine actually needs me to place the cash into sealed envelope before i place it into the machine. i only realise after the machine has "eaten" my money and told me to remember to seal up my envelope. ... tell me only after the money goes in.. what for?

i thought US is advanced. i thought it will be like singapore.. the machine can count the cash. but... No! i bet the bank staff have to go collect each envelopes and count the cash manually... speechless.. waste of human resources and envelopes...

one more thing. do you know that many phones in US still dun have camera? i amazed by it.. cause i thought any phones in singapore, even the free ones have at least 2 megapixel? but some phones in US only come with 0.3 megapixel (i.e if it comes with camera). '

The exchange rate is now 1.4883!!!!! i exchanged it for 1.508 when i came. =( so sad.... so tempted to change some more.. hope it will drop further... say 1.45.. muhahah...
